Message from Rapunzel

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!

Last week – I shared that I was moving my oldest into college. I didn’t know how the day would unfold – but I did anticipate lots of feelings… Well, it went spectacularly. The process was smooth, getting acclimated to the new space felt easy, and her apparent readiness left me amazed.

And the emotions were – and continue to be – a rollercoaster.

I completely accept that because – you know – the human experience. One of the most dominant emotions is awe.Watching people transform – no matter who they are – is just so incredible.

Based on that, the quote that has risen to the top for me this week is from Tangled. The words are part of Rapunzel’s healing incantation (sung first by Mother Gothel, but also by Rapunzel herself) – which signifies transformation in its own way:

Rapunzel’s first 18 years of her life were spent locked in a tower. And she didn't know yet what she was capable of. However, as her 18th birthday arrived - she knew she had to try. She knew she had to leave that tower.

And here's what gets me about this line…it's not "let your power grow" or "let your power develop." It's shine - like the power is already there - just waiting for it to come out of hiding.

We all experience this – our own version of a tower. Maybe it's a story we've told ourselves about not being ready. Maybe it's a role we've outgrown but stayed in because it's familiar. Maybe it's just the daily noise that keeps us from remembering what we're actually capable of.

The thing is, Rapunzel didn't wait until she felt fully prepared. She stepped out of that tower and figured the rest out – one action at a time. I see this happening for my daughter. And I know it can happen for you. You don't need permission. You just need to step into the sun.

Notice one place you've been dimming your own light - playing smaller than you actually are. Then do one small thing that lets it shine instead.

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
