It’s my 100th episode! As people were asking how I was going to celebrate - I was questioning why 100 was a big deal. So it had me thinking about milestones.

The definition of milestone is “an action or event marking a significant change or a stage in development.” It's not only marking, but it's a way to reflect and celebrate and examine.

Milestones are a great time to really pause because to get to that milestone, there is a story. There is a story of evolution that brought you to that milestone. It's a great time to look back at what events and what changes led to this point in time. To look at what things can be celebrated. To look at what fails and stumbles there were that led to the success. To highlight your ability to bounce back and to keep going.

Here is what happens in most areas and goals in our life: we experiment and then we fail. We grow from that fail. We experiment some more. We get uncomfortable. We have a success and celebrate. And then we fail again. We start to question everything. We face criticism. We face skepticism (mostly from ourselves) and then we succeed again. We gain confidence and we evolve.

And it all matters. All of it. It's part of the story. It's part of the evolution. There's so much to learn throughout this process and there's so much to teach to others. It's also a great catalyst for looking at what's next - at what the vision that you hold for that next iteration of your story,

The point is this: Your story matters. Your milestones matter.

How often do you kind of stop and think about your milestones and think about the story that led you there?

This is my challenge you. Take some time and really look back at the path that led you to where you are now. Decide what that means for you. Maybe you look at your whole leadership journey, maybe you look at how many years you've been in the role that you are in or how many years you've had the business that you've had.

What part of your story that has led you to where you are today? What can you celebrate? Identify the fails and the bumps - what lessons did you learn? How did you overcome those bumps and why did you choose not to quit? How can you use that evidence of success in your favor?

Leader - I know that you have a lot going on. I know that you have a lot of responsibilities in your leadership role. I know that you have a lot of spinning plates in the air, and I know that times can get stressful. I know that sometimes you might have a lack of confidence. I know that that inner voice creeps up from time to time. I know you can feel the pressure of all the things going on in life. I know that you might question yourself - asking things like: What am I doing? Why am I doing it? Am I doing it well? Am I good enough? I know those things come into play.

So consider right now a milestone moment for you. Take some time to reflect. Give yourself the space to think about all the things that you have accomplished. All the ways that you have gotten to the place where you are right now. The good, the bad, the whole rollercoaster. And look at who you've become along the way. I want you to be proud of all of it.

See the evidence that you are where you are because of you.
