These Pixie Dust Pep Talks are meant to meet you right where you are. No pressure to do more or be more. Just gentle reminders of what you already carry and how you can keep showing up with intention, care, and humanness.
At the time of this post (February 2026), there is a lot happening — in the world, in our country, in our organizations, and in the lives of the people we lead. As leaders, that adds a heavy layer. We’re still expected to show up, get things done, and guide others — all while navigating very real human experiences.
And that’s why this reminder matters so much right now.
Leadership Was Never Meant to Remove Your Humanity
Somewhere along the way, leadership became associated with emotional control, certainty, and having the loudest voice in the room. Professionalism matters — of course it does. But leadership was never meant to strip away your humanity.
Leadership happens in real life, not ideal conditions. It happens in uncertainty, competing demands, and emotional moments.
Leading like a human means:
You don’t have to pretend you’re unaffected
You don’t have to wait until you feel completely confident
You can be honest, present, and thoughtful — even when things feel unfinished
Trust Is Built Through Humanness
People aren’t looking for leaders who are flawless. They’re looking for leaders who are trustworthy. And trust is built when people feel seen, respected, and acknowledged.
Vulnerability — when practiced responsibly — is a superpower. That doesn’t mean venting or losing emotional control. It means being real while still providing direction and stability.
Human leadership sounds like:
“I don’t have all the answers yet.”
“Here’s what I know so far.”
“I care about how this impacts you.”
That kind of leadership creates connection. And connection is what allows people to keep moving forward — together.
You Don’t Lose Credibility — You Gain It
When leaders allow themselves to lead like humans, conversations become more honest. Teams feel safer. The pressure to perform softens when people know it’s safe to be human at work.
You don’t lose credibility when you show up this way. You gain it.
That’s leadership magic.
What Do You Think?
What would it look like to show up as yourself today? Not the version you think you’re supposed to be — but the human one.
