Message from Belle

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

original message date: 09/01/25

Happy Monday!

I'm in that stage where many of my friends’ kids, along with my own kids, are making decisions about their post-high school plans. It makes me reflect on my own journey - climbing the corporate ladder, doing all the things we GenXers were “supposed” to do. It worked for a while… until I started to feel that pull for something more.

That’s one of the reasons I love Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. She felt that same tug - wanting more than what others had planned for her. She even sang about with this lyric:

Have you ever felt that tug inside - knowing there’s something more for you than what’s been laid out in front of you?

Belle sings these words because she’s longing for a life beyond expectations, beyond what her small town can see for her. And isn’t that true for so many of us? Whether in leadership or in life, we sometimes settle into paths others have designed for us - whether explicitly or subconsciously (hello, societal messaging!) - that don’t quite capture what we knowwe’re capable of.

Leadership especially can feel that way. Maybe people have a picture of how you “should” show up, but deep down you know you have more ideas, more impact, and more voice to offer.

The truth is...longing for “more” isn’t selfish. It’s clarity and it’s courage. It can propel us toward growth and possibility.

Just like Belle, your story isn’t meant to stay small.

Here’s to a week of seeking more than what’s planned! 🌹

This week – think about where you might be following a script that someone else has written for you, and where are you ready to step into more.

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
