WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT
Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!
Lately, in my business, I’ve been talking about identity shifts. The context has been about going from an individual contributor to a leadership role. But really – we go through identity shifts in several ways and several times throughout our lives. From adolescent to adult. Possibly from being single to being in a partnership. From childless to parent. This career to that career. This is only scratching the surface…
Identity shift equals change. And with any change – there are losses…things we leave behind (both happily and begrudgingly).
This quote by Luthen Rael from the Disney+ series, Andor, is very fitting:
I must note, though, that a few things have to happen before you can truly accept what you’re leaving behind:
→ Recognize. Notice that something is ending, not just that something new is starting.
→ Acknowledge. Call it what it is…a loss. Even when you wanted the change, you can be excited about what’s ahead and still miss what’s behind you.
→ Process. Let yourself feel it. Talk it through, write it down, take a walk. Ignored emotions don’t go away - they just show up later.
→ Accept. Now you can let it go and step fully into who you’re becoming.
I’ve recently worked with a new leader who’d been promoted to manage her former teammates. Months in, she was still doing their work for them and feeling a bit lonely along the way. Once she named what she’d given up (being one of the gang, the satisfaction of doing the work herself and being the doer who had the answers), she could finally stop clinging to the old role and start leading in the new one.
✨Magic. ✨
Ask yourself: What am I still holding onto from an old chapter? Name it and process any feelings that might be present.
Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
