Message from Winnie the Pooh

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!

Lately I’ve been much more intentional about quiet time. This has not been easy! I like to maximize my productivity – which can even look like listening to podcasts every extra minute I have.

To be clear, I’m not spending hours in silence…it’s 20 minutes while walking Jasmine (my sweet pooch) and showering without music or a podcast.

But it truly does make a difference for me. This week’s quote, which Winnie the Pooh says to Christopher Robin in the 2018 live-action movie, Christopher Robin, is perfect for this topic:

Here’s the difference that it has made: I’m finding answers to things I’m wrestling with. It’s wild. I’m not really even thinking about anything specific and suddenly – these answers, ideas and helpful thoughts just show up!

I know this isn’t revolutionary. But it’s been a good reminder for me…so maybe the same could be true for you.

Back to the movie, grown-up Christopher Robin has forgotten how to do nothing. He’s busy and important, and he’s running on empty. Pooh never forgot. Pooh knows something most of us must relearn over and over: nothing isn’t wasted time. It’s where the good stuff happens.

When you pause, your brain doesn’t shut off. It finally gets the chance to connect the dots. That’s why your best ideas show up in the shower, on a drive with the radio off, or right as you’re falling asleep.

But I get it. Doing nothing can feel wrong. It can feel lazy, or like you’re falling behind. So you fill every gap. You scroll in line at the grocery store, check email while waiting in the school pickup line, and turn on a podcast the second you’re alone in the car.

Here’s the good news; you don’t need a week off or a weekend retreat. You just need small pockets of nothing!

Your very best something might be waiting on the other side of a little nothing.

Here is your challenge this week: take 10 minutes with no phone, no podcast, and no list. Walk, shower, sit, whatever works. Just see what shows up.

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
