Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!
For quite some time now – I find my mind wanting to wander to all that seems to be ‘wrong’ in the world. And I’m not mad at it or doing that – because 1) our brains are wired to focus on the negative as a survival instinct and 2) there truly IS a lot wrong in the world right now!
This also presents an opportunity to decide what my role in all of it is. Does this resonate with you?
This quote from the Emperor in Disney’s animated feature, Mulan, is a simple but powerful way to think about it.
Mulan was a woman who broke every rule, defied every expectation, and saved an entire kingdom.
To me – this wasn’t just a compliment, but also an acknowledgment. When conditions weren't fair - she bloomed anyway.
There are people all around us - in every organization, every team, every community, every room who have been doing exactly that.
Rising in environments that weren't built for them. Contributing in spaces that talked over them. Leading without the title, the platform, or the invitation. Doing extraordinary work in ordinary - sometimes hostile - conditions.
These people…they are the ones to watch.
Adversity does not make growth inevitable. It costs something real to keep showing up when you're overlooked, underestimated, or pushed to the edges.
But when someone finds a way to bring their voice, gifts, and full self anyway – that is magical.
That is the kind of humanity that changes things.
I want to be like Mulan. And I bet you do too.
Here's what I know: the world needs people who bloom anyway. Who bring their voice, their gifts, and their full humanity — even when the conditions aren't fair.
