WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

original message date: 06/22/26

Happy Monday!

Right now – my 16-year-old son is on an incredible trip through his high school. They have traveled to the South Pacific – visiting Fiji, New Zealand and the Cook Islands. Before he left – he wasn’t sure he was too excited…I don’t think he had any clue what he was about to experience. As I’ve been obsessively enjoying the pictures that the teachers are sharing – I’m choosing to believe he is becoming a changed teenager…

It’s made me think about this quote from Disney/Pixar’s “Up”, said first by Carl Muntz:

This quote speaks to some of my deepest values: possibility, continuous learning, curiosity of different perspectives, and diversity of thought, cultures and personalities.

Take Carl from the movie “Up” (where this quote comes from). He is a man who had a dream his whole life…and then ‘life’ happened. He lost his dear adventurous wife, Ellie. Somewhere along the way, he stopped believing that adventure was still available to him. So – he closed the door…and closed out the world.

Hopefully I’m not spoiling the movie for you - but he finds out that he is completely wrong!

It’s a good illustration of what a lot of us do. We decide, without even realizing it, that the adventure (or the goal/dream) had a season…and that season has passed. Or we tell ourselves we aren’t really cut out for that, or we aren’t the right kind of person.

We just get comfortable. Which is great…until it isn’t.

What if adventure IS still out there for you – right now?

It might look like:

· The class you’ve been researching but haven’t signed up for yet

· The restaurant you always drive by but never stop at

· The trip that is on your “someday” list

· The hobby you once loved but haven’t picked up in forever

· The job you keep seeing posted that you scroll past without applying

· That conversation you’ve been meaning to have

· That investment in your development that you keep putting off

The problem isn’t that adventure has disappeared – it’s that we stop looking for it. Or ignore it when it’s right in front of our eyes.

Carl thought his best days were behind him – and he was wrong.

My son wasn’t sure this trip would be worth it – and he was (hopefully) wrong.

So – check your own belief system…you might be wrong too!

What’s one adventure – big or tiny – that you’ve been thinking about? What is one step toward saying ‘yes’ this week?

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
