Message from Gramma Tala

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!
Moana is easily toward the top of my list of favorite Disney movies. I recently saw the live action remake – and I love it as much as the animated version! There are many themes and quotes that get me every single time.
For this week’s message, I’m pulling a quote from the scene when Moana's grandmother, Gramma Tala, is dying. In that moment - she says this:
She is referencing the moment the ocean chose Moana to restore the heart of Te Fiti - to sail beyond the reef, find Maui, and save her people.
Notice that Gramma Tala didn’t say "you're ready” or "you've earned this." She told Moana she was chosen – and to just go.
Here's why I love this quote so much: Moana never feels qualified. She's not the strongest, the most experienced, the most obvious choice for the journey ahead of her. She spends most of the movie doubting whether she's the right person for what's being asked of her. And Gramma Tala doesn't argue her out of that doubt with evidence. She just reminds her of something true underneath it: she was already chosen, long before she felt ready.
We all need to channel our inner Gramma Tala!
It seems that most of us are waiting for the "ready" feeling before we'll believe we're capable. We want proof first – then we will be courageous. But that's backwards! The calling comes first and the confidence comes from taking action.
Gramma Tala’s words are asking us to notice what keeps showing up in our lives. Maybe it’s the idea you are pushing away or the invitation you keep talking yourself out of. Maybe it’s the compliments or encouragement we keep hearing from others that we just won’t receive.
And maybe, just maybe, we should stop waiting to be ready. Because it’s already been chosen for us. ✨
Name one thing that keeps coming back to you, even after you've tried to ignore it. Don't solve it today, just acknowledge it's there.
