Message from Grandma Tanaka

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

original message date: 07/06/26

Happy Monday!

I finally watched the 2026 Disney/Pixar film, Hoppers, the other night. It's not like me to let so much time go by before seeing a new Disney release! It didn't disappoint - delivering several heartfelt messages that help shape my perspective.

One such moment is when Grandma Tanaka says this:

I don't know about you, but over the last couple of years - I've needed that reminder more than ever. Between the news cycle, the noise, and just... everything happening in the world right now, I've caught myself hanging out in frustration more days than I'd like to admit. It's a lot.

I know I’m not alone. This quote can be applicable to so many situations and areas of life.

I heard this recently – and it really struck a chord: anger and resentment have a way of shrinking to fit whatever room you give them.

When you're stuck in your own head and replaying the same gripe, that feeling can take up the whole space. But the moment you zoom out - when you remember you're part of something bigger than this one moment or this one frustrating day - the anger doesn't disappear, but it stops being the only thing in the room.

This isn't about pretending things are fine when they're not. It's about choosing where to put your energy. Are you going to stay small and stuck, or are you going to remember the bigger thing you're building - your team, your family, your purpose, a kinder world - and let that bigger picture pull you back toward action instead of staying in the muck?

I know that we can all feel this in our own ways. It's easy to get tangled in the daily ick - a missed deadline, a frustrating meeting, someone who didn't follow through - and lose sight of why we're all in this together in the first place. The bigger picture doesn't erase the frustration - it just gives you a more grounding perspective to stand by while you work through it.

And I, for one, am standing right by your side!

Think of something that's been bugging you lately. Now ask yourself — is this really worth the space it's taking up in your head?

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
