This week’s quote is one I first shared at the very beginning of Magic Monday Messages, way back in June of 2020. We were three months into COVID, and our worlds had been turned upside down.
So much has happened since then, globally, nationally, and in our little local worlds. That’s the beauty – and the hard part – of life. It’s forever topsy turvey.
This quote, said by Mary Poppins in the 2018 live action film, Mary Poppins Returns, will likely always apply:
Life does turn upside down - sometimes it feels upside down and inside out all at once (like now!) A project derails, unexpected news arrives, a carefully planned week unravels, or unprecedented events shift our sense of normal. In those moments, our instinct might be to resist, cling to the old order, or retreat into our shell as if everything is fine.
But our role isn’t to force the world back into place. It’s to stay steady within ourselves and choose how we’ll show up when everything else is spinning.
Turning with the world doesn’t mean giving up control. It means adapting, leaning into flexibility, and remembering that movement creates possibility. It means getting clear on what you can control.
We have the choice to create space for resilience, creativity, and even growth in any and all chaos.
So let’s get to it – shall we?
