Message from Miss Piggy
WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT
Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).
original message date: 04/20/26
Happy Monday!
Over the last two weeks, I’ve had quite a few coaching calls – including a couple of calls with MY coach where I was the client. Every single one brought about impactful learnings and glimpses into thinking that wasn’t visible before.
There has also been one common thread throughout each session – the push to examine how we feel about ourselves…in that role, during that conversation, with these personality traits…
The inside-out approach is where the magic is.
This week’s quote is brought to you by a favorite Muppet who knows how to lean into exactly who she is:
Miss Piggy doesn’t seem to spend much time worrying if she’s too much. But a lot of us do! We worry about if we’re too much, not enough, have what it takes, are fitting the mold…which, by the way, someone completely made up…on and on and on.
Here is an example:
I've been working with a client who has a dominant personality trait that lights up a room, brings the positive perspective, drives results, and makes her her. And yet, she is worried that she doesn’t fit the mold of what executive presence is supposed to look like and that she won’t be considered for a promotion. She thinks that for her to be taken seriously, she needs to turn it all the way down.
But what happens when she does that (or even thinks about it) is she loses her motivation, her confidence and her innovative magic. Because she feels like a stranger in her own skin.
Here's what we're exploring: what if that trait isn't the problem? What if the real work isn't eliminating, but it's understanding, appreciating and loving it. It’s learning the strengths it brings AND noticing when it might need to be dialed down (not turned off). Leading from it with intention and awareness rather than apology.
That's a very different conversation than "fix what's wrong with you."
We were never meant to fit into a single mold. People who make the biggest, authentic and long-lasting impact are those that have figured out how to love who they are and lean into it skillfully and unapologetically.
And we will continue to have unhelpful thoughts that get in the way. That is part of the deal. I venture to guess that even Miss Piggy does. It’s noticing those thoughts and learning how to redirect or reframe them that matters.
I’m pretty sure that Miss Piggy didn't get a seat at the table by becoming someone else. Neither will you.
Look back at your last week. Find one moment where the real you showed up. Name the trait that made it possible. How can you love and leverage that trait even more?
Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
