Happy Monday!
I love a plan. I love to map out the steps it will take to get to the finish line before I leave start. My tendency is to make it just right - - - and then I’ll consider moving forward. This is part of my personality make-up (in Insights Discovery language - Cool Blue is my second lead color energy and it is high!).
This can all be helpful in many ways – but I am very much aware of how this quirk of mine gets in the way of me making real growth progress.
What is true is that sometimes the path to growth isn’t as linear as we’d like it to be. In the words of Tony Stark from the Marvel movie, Iron Man:
It’s a reminder that waiting until we feel completely ready or until every detail is perfectly in place can keep us standing still. It can actually get in the way of going for that promotion, sharing that idea, asking for support, ending that relationship, having the tough-but-necessary conversation or launching that new endeavor.
Real progress often comes from those moments when we take bold, messy, imperfect action. Action like stepping into a challenging conversation, making a quick decision without all the answers, or taking a risk on a new approach.
It’s about trusting that momentum will carry you forward, even if the ground feels a bit unsteady at first.
