Happy Monday!
This past week - I spent the day with a team delivering the magic of Insights® Discovery – where they learned more about themselves and each other. Connection all around.
We know that humans thrive on connection. And the main ingredients include listening, understanding and appreciating uniqueness.
Boy – could we use more of that in the world. And it’s something we can do – together.
Here is what Walt Disney had to say:
I believe that when Walt said teamwork, he wasn’t talking about everyone agreeing. He wasn’t talking about harmony for harmony’s sake. He was talking about people bringing different strengths together to create something bigger than any one person could build alone.
That’s teamwork.
And if you think about it, teamwork is really about community.
Teamwork is about clarity and collaboration in service of getting results. Community is about being seen and valued in service of connection and trust.
Teamwork is how we get results. Community is how we sustain the people getting those results.
The healthiest groups don’t choose between them. They understand that performance and humanity are partners - not competitors.
You can’t have real teamwork without some level of community. And you can’t build meaningful community without shared effort.
Side by side. Together.
This week, think about where you might be focused on tasks without paying attention to connection.
